This is happening more and more. I wish the businesses that buy this copper from these thieves would require some kind of proof that they have legally obtained it and where they got it from. A bill of sale, contract for demolition, with addresses etc. These copper recycling business are as much to blame as the thieves for not asking where they got it.

Sorry to hear of your loss of power last weekend.

I work at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, at the corner of Louetta and North Eldridge and copper thieves totally destroyed 2 of our A/C units earlier this year. Now who would steal from a church?? And the CVS right across the street had thieves try and steal their ATM.

We all need to be on alert as our little piece of Cypress is not as safe as it once was. We all need to be vigilent and watch out for suspicious activities going on in our community.

My husband and I agree with you Gerry. Every time we see a local business fail, for whatever reason, we are saddened. In most cases, people put their heart and soul into their endeavor. This is why we choose to support our local businesses. We were heartbroken for Jasmine and her family when Amalia’s wasn’t successful. But, it allowed you to open Piqueo…we consider it like a organ donation…you have kept that heart alive to thrive with a new entity. We will continue to support Piqueo, as we have Mezzanote, for years to come!! Kathleen and Bill.

My husband and I went to Amalia’s only twice in all the years it was there. After the first visit, we were not planning on ever going back. But after a few years, we thought the food might have improved so we tried it again. It just wasn’t good compared to other very good Mexican restaurants in the area. That could be the reason it closed finally. I was amazed it lasted so long.
